Ans: Yes but it may be bit difficult because you will have some experience
already and employers will prefer to have Business Analysts with relevant
experience.
You may need to work hard and update resume and need
to give impression that, you can do justice to BA role. However there needs to
be some amount of Luck with you as well.
7) What is the ideal salary expectation, if I get a BA interview?
Ans: If you are fresher and not thru campus placement, I suggest you to quote ' industry standards'. Try to get a job and later once you have some decent experience, money will follow you !!
I have seen candidates (freshers) passed out of college will have more expectations salary wise but there will be very less openings for BA compared to other IT jobs like developers and testers. Also number of MBA's are increasing day by day.
After getting out of college it becomes tough to get into BA profile and usually people land in BPO's. I would suggest get into BA role whatever may be the salary and later 2-3 years experience you can land with good salary package.
Usually mid sized and small companies offer 1.2 ~ 1.5 lakhs per year package.
8) Can you guide me more for my interview? I got questions !
Ans: No, apart from the information available in this site, if you have any VALID questions, I will try to answer but not for those who expect ready-made answers. Do some research and post your questions.

Ans: I prefer not to share my phone number. Initially I shared my phone number on the site and I had to face lot of problems hence I do not prefer to share my number.
10) What is the future for business Analyst?
As per my experience, Business Analyst life time is around 8
years. Usually you will not find business analyst with 9 years, 12 years, 15
years of experience. Business Analyst need to get into next level. Ideally there
are 2 roles after Business Analyst (a) Project manager (b) Functional
Consultant.
Not only for Business Analyst, for any role like developer,
tester – there is a life time. There exists no developer with 15 years of exp.
He/She needs to be elevated to team Lead, Tech Lead or Technical Architect
etc.
11) I don’t have technical knowledge, I don’t have programming /
coding experience / I do not understand technical things, Can I become business
analyst?
It is added advantage if you are aware of technical things but
it is not mandatory to have technical hands-on. However I recommend to know what
are the technologies available in the market and what sort of technologies are
better for a a particular software.
Usually this comes by experience. As BA, you usually interact
with developers, you need to make best use of the time. As questions, know more
about frameworks. You need to know – how code is written? But what technology,
what framework? What are the other frameworks? Why this framework is applied?
Why not other framework? Etc these questions will enable you to make techno
functional. Techno Functional people have more demand in the market.
12) I have interview this week, can you help me with
questions?
where people seek ready-made answers without doing analysis, googling etc.. for those questions, I do not answer.
12. (a) Can you tell me what questions will be asked in Interview?
I have alraedy given about basic questions and information about business analysis. Apart from the given information - no other questions I can provide.
13) Can you share some knowledge on banking, finance, health care,
telecom Domains? I want to know more.
These Domains are huge and wide. It is not possible to educate
thru website. It runs more than 100 pages to give minimal information and hence
not possible.
14)Which is the best Domain to start with? What domain you
suggest? Which domain is in boom?
Every domain is equally important. It is up to your interest.
I do not recommend any domain personally but however I feel in the long run
healthCare is better domain. In USA a person cannot think of living without
health insurance. It is always in demand. By the way I am not a big fan of
health Care :-)
Banking is once more area which needs software and
maintenance. Even telecom – you cannot think life without cell phones. All
domains are equally important !!
Also when you start your career with a small and mid sized company, you will be never given choice to choose domains. Whatever company does, you need to work on that.
15) What certifications, I need to take-up for Business Analyst
role?
Personally I do not recommend any certifications, however if
you are a fresher you can go for CBAP from IIBA. You can for some classes and it
is an online examination.
Again, this certification will not get you a job. It is just
an added advantage for interviews.
16) Do own a training institute? Can you tech Business
Analysis?
No, I don’t have that much money to own a institute :-)
May be in future, I can think of it but not at this point of
time due to time constraints.
17) If I refer your website, is it enough to get a job? If not,
what sites I need to refer?
No, My website provides only knowledge but again I am not an
industry guru. The content is just my experience and everyday industry trend
keeps updating. So do lot of research, there are N number of websites available
which provides knowledge about business analysis. If you google, you will find
many websites which are very structured and more informative. Please do not stop
your knowledge hunt at this site. Keep moving !!
18) Can you provide some information about Use-cases, UML, SRS docs etc?
NO, this website runs into more pages and difficult to train thru website and hence not able to post. may be in near future I will try to provide some info on this.
19) Can you provide some documents which you have or prepared?
No, the docs I have are not personal. It belongs to some clients and company material which is not ethical to share. may be in future I will try to create some dummy docs for reference and post later.
20) Can you provide some information about QA / Development / Implementation in detail?
No, this site is intended for Business Analyst staters / freshers. This site is not intended for developers and other roles.
21) Can you provide more information about business analysis?
No, the focus is only for freshers and beginners only.
22) I am planning to get online / distance / part time MBA, will it help me ?
Many big companies DO NOT hire based on online / distance MBA courses. Few companies specifically states at the time of interview or job advertizement that, they need full time courses only.
Many people join online / Distance courses and invest money there and finally nothing comes out of that.
Also online/distance MBA lack providing the real value of MBA. presentations, seminars, industrial visits, workshops, case study discussions really add value and confidence to MBA which online & distance courses lack.
However, it will be your choice to go for online and distance courses.
23) I have experience in xyz job (not business analyst) and now I want to switch job and looking for BA role. Companies ask for relevant experience only. what to do?
Yes, that is valid.
I go by example -
(a)You want to hire a cook at your home, if a person wants to join as cook at your home without having cooking experience, will you offer him/her a cook job?? NO, you will never offer a cook job to a person who doesn't have cooking experience.
(b) In the same above scenario, if the person states, he worked as Waiter - person serves table at restaurant (as main role) and he helped the cook for few years and later he/she started cooking but the actual role was still Waiter. You will think of possibilities and directly do not reject.
If that person defends with example like, how he got cooking opportunity in absence of chef and what all he prepared with recipe - you may feel better and show confidence on that person.
Same thing applies to your BA role when you switch role.
24) Can you help in preparing resume? Can you review my resume? Can you suggest how my resume should look like?
No, I do not provide any services, help related to resume and jobs
25) I have 1+ or 2+ years of experience as business analyst and I have some questions... ...
No, my preference is for freshers only. The content of this site is not intended for experience people. The only aim of site is to help some freshers to get/acquire knowledge and get advantage in interview.
So experienced BA questions may not get answers.
